Saturday, February 14, 2009It's Valentine's day yet again...An unofficial festive that everyone would love to celebrate.. friends, couples, families.. To me it's just but an occasion where entrepreneurs mark up their prices for almost everything! Flowers, gift wrappers, chocolates, hotels, meals etc... However, foolishly enough people still spend! Not because they "want" to but rather they "have" to! Having read so far.. you would have come to a conclusion that Louis is not romantic at all! Truth is I certainly am not! Or rather I choose not to.. Selectively there are times where I feel it requires much much more effort and attention.. for instance.. your love ones' birthdays, christmas, anniversaries... How much does a bouquet of flowers cost you on V's day as compared to any other days? Why give flowers only on V's day and not any other day? Why dine out and squeeze with the rest of the world when you can just have a simple meal at home? So many whys and yet the only answer anyone could give is.. "It's Valentine's Day" It may sound cliche but its true that "ANY OTHER DAY CAN BE VALENTINE'S DAY!" I'm sounding sour but seeing so many of my pals and mates being consume by this over rated occasion just make me wanna stand up and clap for the people who have commercialized this occasion. They certainly has done a great job! Not that I'm not willing to go out on Feb 14.. rather.. I just felt is it a must? Can't I have candlelit dinner on Feb 15,16 or 17? Can't I buy a gift on Feb 11,12 or 13? Can't I buy flowers on Jan 31? Okie I know.. it will lose all it's significant if I don't do it on Feb 14.. but all this are very subjective! YOu might be thinking why then do we celebrate Chinese NEw Year on Jan 26 and not some other dates.. That's because it's an OFFICIAL FESTIVE for chinese all around the world! WE DON'T HAVE A CHOICE! It's definately not an occasion where I will be paying special attention to.. I'm sorry but honestly I just feel .. everyday is V day if you;re with the one you love. Period.
