Thursday, April 9, 2009I was fined $200 for parking my bike at the void deck. I think it's damn dumb can.. everywhere people are parking illegally and they don't get fined while this is the 2nd time i got fined!!!Anyway, I emailed the "Property Manager" of AJTC to signal my displeasure! Dear Sir I've received the mail that your division has sent me. I'm willing to pay this composite fine of $200 but before I do that I would like to highlight a few points for your reference. I've been a GIRO seasoned coupon holder ever since I got my bike but honestly how many motorcycle parking lots are there? If you look around the district, how many motorbikes ended up parking at the pavement, void decks, roadsides etc... Many a times, I came back late at night, I had to circulate around the vicinity to look for a parking space, but to no avail. Indeed, a parking coupon does not entitle you the "right" to a parking space like in a private estate. But it does certainly meant that you would not be fine for parking anywhere within the "zone" certify by the coupon. However, if there aren't any parking space left for that particular day will consumers like us, be refunded for that day? I took a risk to park at the void deck not because I want to, but because on that faithful night there wasn't any parking spaces left around the area! I'm not challenging your authority, but being a division manager of AJTC, aren't the lack of parking spaces a concern of the town council? With the mass construction work going on around the area, the parking situation has been made worse. Cars have now resort to taking bike parking lots and what's left for motorcyclist like me? I'm disappointed that the appeal didn't go through but I'm more disappointed with that fact that the parking situation hasn't improve from my first summon dated in 28th July. Thank you for taking the time to read this mail. Yours Sincerely Louis Chin His reply came back 24hours later... Dear Louis, I empathise with your difficulty in finding parking lots for your motorbike. I have conveyed your feedback and frustration to the HDB for their follow up, as provision of carpark lots is under their purview. Notwithstanding the above, it is still an offence to park your motorbike in common areas not designated for parking. Further, we have accorded you the leniency of waiving your first summon issued to you on 28 July 2008, with ample warning that no appeal for repeat offence shall be entertained. As such, we regret that our management has turned down your appeal. Should you continue to experience difficulty in finding parking lots in your zone, kindly inform HDB of such problem. When you noticed illegal parking by other motorist taking up motorcyle lots, you may call HDB Carpark enforcement tel no: 1800-2721409. Regards, Joseph Wee Property Manager Aljunied Town Council He's not even addressing my problems, just pushing it away to any other departments involve! Good Job man.. now i know what Property Manager of AJTC does... Louis froze in time on 12:34 PM
